Mandrel Bender: Precision Exhaust Bending Technology
Bending our own steel means we can respond quickly to market demand, streamlining the process from R&D through to testing prototypes, modifications, and install. Investing in this state-of-the-art machine is the reason we supply products with:
- Consistent thickness
- A Constant diameter with no wrinkling
- Smooth, fully automated bends
- A Millimetre-precise accuracy for fast, simple fitment
- Customised designs to suit aftermarket accessories such as chassis extensions, long range fuel tanks, suspension and under tray toolboxes
Interesting fact- this bender can produce pipe with zero straight at the end. This means we can bend pipe to exact lengths, prevent waste, and keep the process efficient as possible!
So how does a Mandrel Bender work?
A flexible mandrel rod supports the pipe from the inside as it bends, preventing crinkling of the pipe. It also creates a smooth and constant diameter which reduces restriction and improves the performance and efficiency of your engine.
In comparison, you will notice the majority of stock exhaust systems are crush bent. This is when the pipe is not supported internally and it develops a depression on the inside bends, causing wrinkling, creasing and reducing the diameter of the pipe. Similar to plastic snorkels, not having a constant diameter restricts both flow and sound, which increases back pressure and reduces the performance of your vehicle.
