Top 4 Performance Upgrades For Your 1.5L Suzuki Jimny

White Suzuki Jimny driving through muddy off-road terrain, splashing water.

The Suzuki Jimny may be compact, but off-road it’s seriously impressive. With its lightweight frame, the Zook comfortably scales rugged terrain where the larger 4WD’s often struggle. So why does it need upgrading?

We’ve heard it many times, and experienced it ourselves behind the wheel of Torqit’s Jimny- the lack of horsepower becomes all too evident when accelerating and driving uphill or at high speeds. Add in a full load of camping gear, and you need plenty of revving and rowing of the gearbox to get anywhere.

Torqit’s Suzuki Jimny upgrades fill in the gaps where it’s lacking in performance, so next time you head off-road you can concentrate on doing what the Jimny does best- the kind of 4WDing which leaves a smile on your face. More power, more response, less strain on the vehicle and hey- it’s a bonus if you can leave your mates in the dust and sound good while you’re at it.

Suzuki Jimny Performance Upgrades With Torqit

We have four performance upgrades available for the Suzuki Jimny:

  • 2.5” Jimny Performance Exhaust
  • Pedal Torq throttle controller
  • Stainless steel 3.5” snorkel
  • Stainless steel airbox

Jimny Performance Exhaust Upgrade

Proving biggest is not always the best; Torqit’s Jimny Performance Exhaust achieves the perfect balance of performance and sound at a 2.5” diameter. Still significantly larger than the stock exhaust, this Jimny system guarantees maximum flow, reduced back pressure, a sportier note and potential fuel savings.

The bolt together design means you can crack a cold one, grab some spanners and install on your driveway in just two and a half hours. This exhaust is also built to suit aftermarket accessories such as rock sliders, tow bars, under-body protection and the Long Range 80L fuel tank.

Backed by a 10 year warranty, this exhaust is built to last the distance. Find out the cost of Torqit’s 2.5″ Performance Exhaust.

6 Key Features of Torqit’s Jimny Performance Exhaust

  • 304 Grade Stainless Steel: This premium grade steel is known for its high strength and resistance to rust, meaning the exhaust can withstand rugged terrain and harsh conditions.
  • Mandrel Bent System: Mandrel Bending supports the pipe as its bent, creating a smooth and constant diameter. This increases flow and engine efficiency, by reducing the back pressure and exhaust gas temperatures (EGT’s).
  • Thick Stainless Steel: Steel up to 2mm thick produces a deep note without cabin drone. Being extremely difficult to crack, you can head off-road knowing your system will stay intact.
  • Internal and External Welds: Reinforcing the system inside and out, precision TIG welds increase the strength of the exhaust and prevent structural fatigue and cracking.
  • Double Braided Flex Bellow: By absorbing excess movement and vibrations, the flex bellow minimises strain on the system. The reinforced double-braided design also guards against cracking and exhaust gas leaks.
  • High Flow Catalytic Converter: Designed to help the exhaust breathe more freely, a high flow cat helps increase flow and effectively disperse heat. Made up of a honeycomb structure of precious metals, a reduced CPSI of 200 means the cat works harder and faster to increase performance.

Pedal Torq: Jimny Throttle Controller

If you’ve noticed your Jimny is slow off the mark at traffic lights, or it strains when overtaking or getting up a hill, you’ve likely experienced throttle lag. This delay between pressing the Jimny’s accelerator and then feeling the response is frustrating; and despite what many people believe, simply putting your foot down harder won’t reduce the lag.

Torqit’s Pedal Torq throttle controller increases response to reduce this lag and prevent strain on the Jimny. By doing this the Pedal Torq gives you improved fuel economy, smoother gear changes and total control over the accelerator response in any situation.

Ideal Use For Each Mode On Torqit’s Jimny Pedal Torq

  • Intelligent Mode: This mode is a great way to get a feel for the Pedal Torq. It gives you personalised throttle control by automatically adjusting the response depending on your heavy/light-footed driving style.
  • Eco Mode: The Zook has pretty good fuel consumption, but this mode tweaks the accelerator for a gentle increase in response while making sure the Jimny works as efficiently as possible.
  • Off Road Mode: Perfect for intense off-road situations such as low traction surfaces and rock crawling, this mode dials down the throttle for total control.
  • Sport Mode: Ideal for safer driving, towing and overtaking, this mode provides instant response and grunt.
  • Anti-Theft Mode: If where you park your Jimny doesn’t feel secure, you can use this mode to immobilise the accelerator for total peace of mind. Until deactivated, your Jimny won’t be going anywhere.

All of this and you can DIY install in just two minutes. Dash mounted for easy access and covered by a 5 year warranty, the Jimny Pedal Torq also comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. Learn more about the Jimny throttle controller and pricing here.

A Pedal Torq is one of the quickest bang-for-buck upgrades you can fit to your Jimny, and the reactions we get after customers fit one to their vehicle have proved time and time again that you need to experience it to believe it. Suzuki Jimny Snorkel Upgrade

Offroad is where the Jimny really is at home, but with that comes dust, mud and water- none of which you want in your engine. By creating a higher intake point, Torqit’s stainless steel 3.5” snorkel prevents damage from water and polluted air, and means the Jimny will be running efficiently as possible by drawing cleaner and cooler air through the airbox.

Built tough for rigorous off-roading, Torqit’s snorkel is a no-brainer if you want to take your Zook’s capabilities to the next level while making sure the engine is protected. Made in Australia, the snorkel is designed to clear aftermarket roof racks and light bars so there are no restrictions on adding other upgrades to your build.

An added bonus is the brushed stainless steel finish, which really makes the Jimny stand out from the crowd. If you’d rather match the snorkel to the black body details, there is also the option of a durable satin black powder coat. Find out pricing and more details here.

Key Features of Torqit’s Jimny Snorkel

  • 304 Grade Stainless Steel: More robust and structurally rigid than plastic, the high strength and rust-resistant properties of 304 grade steel mean it can withstand harsh conditions and extreme off-roading.
  • Mandrel Bent Pipe: Mandrel bent pipe provides a smooth constant diameter for maximum airflow. With gentle bends and no joins, the one-piece construction keeps the snorkel streamlined and airtight.
  • Pinch Weld and Anti-Rust Paint: Clear OEM-certified paint prevents rust from forming along the guard cut, and keeps the panel in optimum condition. A rubber pinch weld provides a final layer of sealing and protection.
  • DIY Install: Bolting directly to the Jimny’s guard, the snorkel can be fitted in approximately one hour. For maximum accuracy, the supplied fitting template is a thick card that attaches to existing bolts. Watch an install video of Torqit’s Suzuki Jimny Snorkel.

Suzuki Jimny Airbox Upgrade

Heading off-road is more enjoyable when you know your rig is up to the task, and for keeping your engine damage free, a tightly sealed airbox is a non-negotiable. Torqit’s Stainless Steel Jimny airbox safeguards against water and polluted air, and is a huge leap forward in terms of both size and performance.

Aftermarket airboxes regularly increase the filter size without increasing the volume of the air box, meaning the bigger filter has minimal effect on overall performance. A unique tapered lid on Torqit’s airbox increases its total air capacity, taking advantage of the filter’s entire surface area. With a surface area 2.3 times larger than standard, this filter will last longer and you’ll be reaping the benefits in terms of power and fuel efficiency.

As with the snorkel, Torqit’s Jimny airbox comes in two finishes- brushed stainless steel or a powder-coated satin black. Check out pricing and more details on this upgrade here.

  • 304 Grade Stainless Steel: Premium 304 grade steel is more robust and structurally rigid than plastic, meaning the airbox stays tightly sealed and doesn’t warp from heat exposure.
  • Tapered Design: Laser cut and CNC Bent, a tapered lid maximises the amount and flow of air reaching the filter’s surface area.
  • Sealed Lid: The lid is tightly sealed with silicone joiners and 4 high-strength steel clips. The clips also provide easy access to the filter.
  • Ryco Flat Paper Filter: An OEM-certified Ryco filter maximises airflow and filtration, and provides a surface area 2.3 times larger than the standard Jimny airbox.
